Although summer in D.C. can be sweltering, the summer menus are worth going out in the heat. The seasonal drinks and dishes at the signature Ici Urban Bistro restaurant and the modern Le Bar at the Sofitel hotel quenched my thirst and filled my appetite!

Why You Need to go to Cochon555 this Summer

After twelve exciting competitions across the country, the 2017 Cochon555 tour is ready to take on the District for it's penultimate culinary battle before the final competition in Austin and the Grand Cochon showdown in October. Taking place on August 6th at the Watergate hotel in Washington, D.C., this culinary experience with five competing chefs, five competing winemakers, and five whole heritage brand pigs (1,500 pounds of pork!) is one you don’t want to miss.

Museum Hack: National Gallery of Art

Recently I decided I needed to check out more of the museums in my city, but I didn't want to feel like another dead-eyed tourist. I really wanted to go on a museum tour, but I was worried it was going to be boring and generic. When I heard about Museum Hack, my ears perked up.

Spring Menu Planning

This year we worked with Lovettsville's Spring House Farm to put together a fantastic spring meal.  Their meat is all pasture-raised and grass-fed as much as possible. They are most famous for their pork which gets it's amazing flavor while the pigs are roaming the farm's mountain lands feasting on mushrooms, grubs and even snakes, just like they would do in the wild.  We could taste the freshness of the product and we were delighted to pair the meal with some amazing wines.

Thinking of Drinking: Carrot Cake Shooter

This Easter, add a little alcohol to your dessert.  I'm always a fan of festive cocktails and Easter is no exception.  I'll be making my Aunt Linda's Award Winning Carrot Cake, but I thought I'd have a little fun and make these shooters as well.  It will be the perfect welcome treat as my guests arrive.  Bottoms up!
