Guacamole Heaven at El Centro D.F.

El Centro D.F. is hosting its 2nd Annual Guacamole Festival through June 30th.  You'll find a variety of different flavors to pick from... even grasshoppers.

I liked the Tradicional made with avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, and chile serrano.
Fruit lovers, check out the Baja, with flavors from Baja California including kiwi, jicama, strawberry, mango, mint, chile arbol, lime, and sea salt. Norteno, from the North, incorporates chicharron, pickled onion, salsa fresca, Serrano, queso fresco, roasted corn, lime and sea salt.  Pacifico is made with grilled beet, roasted walnut, queso fresco, diced orange and Richard Sandoval’s citrus chipotle salt and lime juice.  For the adventurous eaters, you might like Sur, with flavors from the South including grasshoppers, tomatillo, cotija cheese, onion, chile cascabel, cilantro, lime, and sea salt.
Featured guacamoles range in price from $10.95 to $13.95. For the perfect complement, drink specials, or “bebidas,” include Cantaloupe Agua Fresca, spiked with tequila blanco, and a Kiwi Margarita made with tequila blanco, fresh kiwi, citrus, and a chile piquin rim. Cocktails are priced at $10.95 each.

El Centro D.F. is located at 1819 14th St., NW, 20009. For reservations or more information please call (202) 328-3131 or visit www.richardsandoval.com.
