Picnic Pleasing Recipes on Capital Cooking

The Nation’s capital is a picnic hot spot, where you can intimately enjoy a home-cooked meal with the history of America.  On the newest episode of Capital Cooking, Lauren DeSantis, with the help of Chef Domenico Cornacchia of Assaggi, shares her flavorful recipes that keep it simple, yet delicious, for day out of a basket.

To start off the show, Lauren will debut the chicken salad sandwich ring.  This heart-shaped sandwich offers a fun, light-hearted twist to your outdoor picnic. Placed upon oven-baked French Bread, the Chicken salad is mixed with the sweetness of grapes and the crunch of celery.

Chef Domenico will share his choice for a picnic delight , the Tuscan Panzanella Salad.  This salad is also featured in Lauren’s cookbook, which can be found at www.createspace.com/3374156.  Perfect for an outdoors day, this vibrant salad is filled with colorful vegetables and fresh buffalo mozzarella.  You won’t want to miss Chef Domenico’s inside tips straight from Italy.

Lauren will then introduce a fruit pizza, her sweet finish to a day in the park.  Incorporating fruit of any season, this dessert pizza offers a cream-cheese icing, with flavorings of vanilla and orange juice.

Lastly, Nathan Piccioto joins the show and teaches you to make a Caiprioska, a popular cocktail from Brazil.  With its strong, mint flavor, this cocktail is refreshingly cool on a sunny afternoon.
